Pre-Christmas Recap

December 22, 2008
The Good

Birthday celebration. Thank you thank you thank you peoples that came out on a Wednesday night (and we all know how I feel about Wednesdays) for some Muppet love (may sound dirty. It is. #18 of the dirty things found in that movie, btw).

Cupcakes. O MY GOD. I rarely get this emotional over cupcakes (ha! you just caught me in a huge lie!) but the cupcakes at Night’s Kitchen in Chestnut Hill are absolutely something blog-worthy. Super thick chocolate and crazy thick butter cream on top. The boy picked up a baker’s dozen + 1 for the celebration, and the two that were left over, I hid in the back of the fridge in a moment of serious greed and over-indulgence. My cupcakes. All mine.

Sushi. Blue Fin. Lot’s of wine. Friday nights. Fantastic friends. Jeff’s birthday. That’s the top list of loves in my life. Possibly in that order.

Knitting Time. So maybe I took a sabbatical from knitting nights at Panera’s, but with puppies, husband, and guilt over my lack of gyming as of late, I just couldn’t mentally believe that knitting out with friends on comfty brown leather couches with mocha in front of a roaring fireplace was ok, all things considering. Let me be clear on what I have figured out. Knitting out with friends on comfty brown leather couches with mocha in front of a roaring fireplace is ALWAYS ok and ideal for beating the winter crush. Come join us sometimes. I promise not to make the mistake of lax attendance any more.

NYC in the snow. These are the things that I now view as synonymous with New York in the snow: breathtaking views of the river crossing the GW Bridge, trounching around the Upper West Side with amazing company watching snow cover Broadway, Korean BBQ in SoHo that is apparently “known” for having all hot waiters (thanks bro-in-law!!), hot birthday party at pretty frickin awesome club in Midtown, all-you-can-drink-and-that-means-a-lot Sangria brunch with doughballs, hearing soon-to-be-sister-in-law making awesome comment about brother-in-law’s doughballs… you kind of get the point, right?

The Bad

King of Prussia Mall.
Your traffic is stupid. Thus you are stupid. And it taking 40 mins for me to circumnavigate you on my lunch break just to get an incredibly tastey treat from Wendy’s (too cold to go outside more then that!) is stupid.

Knitting Hats meant for Toddlers. This is only bad when it’s not, in fact, a hat that was meant to be for toddlers. When it was a beautiful, deep teal with purdy beads, amazingly gorgeous hat meant for you. Yourself. Merry Christmas, Love you. Except it isn’t, because your head is bigger then your knees and thus can not possibly fit the hat on your head.

Person yet-to-remain-nameless that is ruining Christmas. There is a slight chance he will redeem himself. If he doesn’t, I’ll be airing that laundry on December 25th. If he does, well, in the words of The Royal Gaurdsmen:

“The Baron made Snoopy fly to the Rhine
And forced him to land behind the enemy lines
Snoopy was certain that this was the end
When the Baron cried out ‘Merry Christmas, mein friend!’

The Baron then offered a holiday toast
And Snoopy our hero saluted his host
And then with a roar they were both on their way
Each knowing they’d meet on some other day”
